Automatic Smart Wireless not working

It stays on Channel 1 the whole time, we get mega slow downs throughout the day, sometimes it fails to load at all. Refreshing to find the best channel still stays with 1. We have to change the channel manually to get speed back.

 

Does anyone know how to fix this?

 

We're on Home Hub 3, Infinity.

Forget about automatic wireless as it can only choose three channels. Use manual channel selection to find the best connection, as you have a choice of 13 channels.

Thanks Keith for the reply. I thought 1, 6 and 11 were the "best" channels though? With less chance of interference? So I could just select say channel 13 and leave it on that, because according to inSSIDer no one around here uses that channel just cycles through the same 1, 6 and 11.

Its a bit misleading, as 1, 6, and 11 are not really the best channels, especially if there are other wireless networks nearby.

 

Those channels are the only ones which do not overlap with each other. That really does not mean very much in practice.
