BT Fibre 900 - Own Router

Go to solution

Good morning all,

Forgive me if this question has been asked before but I'm curious to know, are users able to their own router for the BT Fibre 900 package?

I currently own a VDSL/VDSL2 router and would much prefer to use this rather than the router that is supplied direct through BT themselves.

I'm aware of bridging but would prefer if possible to have my own router receive the BT feed direct rather than having to run the outside feed through a Smart Hub 2 and then into my own router.

I'm also aware of the BT broadband login details which can be used but wasn't sure whether this would still be compatible with the Fibre 900 service.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

@Metrix84

Its a common question, please look at these threads https://community.bt.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?advanced=false&allow_punctuation=false&q=f...

You cannot use a VDSL/ADSL router unless it has a wireless router mode.

As long as the router has a WAN port it will be fine. However, your landline phone service will be transferred to Digital Voice which requires the use of the BT Smart Hub2.

Thank you for your replies.

Just to clarify @licquorice I can use my own router providing it's connected via the WAN port.

I have no issue with the Digital Voice as it's not a service I require.
