BT HH5, Raspberry Pi, DHCP

Go to solution

I've just got my HH5 and have a bit of an odd problem and a couple of questions.

On the Devices page, what does the D in a blue circle signify?  It seems to be associated with IPv6 addressing.

Not all devices get the "D" and the IPv6 entry.  Any idea why?

My problem is that whenever I try to give one of these 2 devices a new name, both change.  They are Raspberry Pis

I've done  a factory reset but it is still happening.

BT Home Hub 5 (Type B) | Software version v0.07.05.0A13-BT  | Last updated 29/1/2016

It also happens to wireless connected Raspberry Pis too BUT is OK with laptops/tablets/webcams that connect wirelessly.  Is it a "feature" of the RPi on HH5?  It was fine with HH3

How are you changing the name of the RPi's?

 D for DHCP and a 6 for IPv6

I changed the names from Home Network then Devices click on the IP/MAC address and change the name in the Home Network Name box. Then Apply

I think it might be that the RPi told the dhcp server I am called X so it has got them as the same device so when you change the name at the DHCP it updates both.

Try this

You might need to tell the HH5 to forget the MAC addresses.

Hmmm, worked OK with the HH3. Maybe the HH5 is a bit more picky.

I'll have a go at your link and report back

The devices appear OK with their appropriate name on the DHCP page but the Home Network-Devices page has no details of what is connected. When I click on the Device in the DHCP table I get switched back to the Home Network-Devices page whereas it used to open the details of the device.

When everyone has gone to bed, I'll re-boot the router
