BT Home Hub 5 Wireless problems - router requires constant reboots

BT Home Hub 5 (Type B) | Software version v0.07.05.0A13-BT  | Last updated 18/7/2016

I recently joined BT Infinity 2 after poor service from Virgin Media.

I've got a very good speed (over 70 Mbs d/s, 20 Mb/s u/s), and I'm very happy with it. But there's one big problem.

I use a Microsoft Surface Book running Windows 10 Pro, connected to my Home Hub via 5 GHz WiFi. The signal strength is very strong, and it works excellently. But after a couple of hours usage, I'll start to experience drastic drops in latency (>100ms). A reboot of the Hub resolves the problem and my latency plummets again...for a couple of hours...then the problem is right back again. I've carried out a 12hr traceroute on PingPlotter between my Surface Book and the Hub to visualise the problem.

Appreciate if anyone can suggest how to resolve.

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Wireless problems - router requires constant reboots

Here is a 12 hour trace to the router from a different machine (HP Microserver) connected via Ethernet to the Hub. As you can see, there is no jump in latency on the wired connection:

I've set up a timer switch on my Home Hub. Around 3am, it turns of the socket for a few minutes. I left my Surface Book running a ping, on a WiFi connection, for around 48hrs and you can clearly see what's happening.
