I have a BT Homehub 5 Type A, whenever I try to upload large files onto google drive my connection drops. I have tried with a range of different devices(Android/iOS/Windows) and also tried both wired and wireless connections. I understand this is a recurring theme with BT Homehub 5 routers and I'd be grateful if I could be offered external help for this issue. Thank you.
(There is also no problem with the connection speed. I've been getting a consistent 29-40mbs since I've been using BT Infinity)
try using the search facility as there are other posts with are marked solved 'search 'disconnections while uploading' or similar phrase
What upload speed do you get if you try the BT Wholesale Performance Tester?
You need to restrict your data upload to less than that figure, otherwise you will crash the home hub and its not just the home hub 5 that is affected. Remember to allow for the difference between bits per second, and bytes per second.
Google drive does allow you to restrict the upload rate.
I'm going to run the performance tester in a few minutes and regarding the other solutions, alot of them were 'solved' by the BT technical team apparently making configuration changes to the router which fixed the issue.
Edit: I ran the BTWholesale performance test and got
with a latency of 45ms~
Edit 2: Tried reducing the upload rate on google drive to as low as 50 kb/s. Problem still persists...
