BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

Hello,

As the title says I have been experiencing concurrent disconnection issues over the past few months. The internet will completely lose connection and the home hub often resets itself - all devices lose connection. When using the xbox to play games with friends I will continously lose connection to xbox parties and it will result in a "networking error" on the xbox. I know this is related to my HH in someway becasue it does not happen to anyone else.

All devices are connected through WIFI and the option for an ethernet cable is not really on the table as the HH is situated too far from these devices.

Any help on the matter would be really appreciated as it is becoming very annoying.  Please let me know what additional information you require on the matter

Re: BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

So is the hh5 dropping internet connection or is the problem your devices are dropping wireless connection to the hh5?

have you split the 2.4/5ghz networks and added a 5 to the 5ghz network to gib over it a different SSID?

can you post stats from hh5 - troubleshooting helpdesk

I have the split enabled. Xbox on 5 and everything else on 2.4. Every device loses connection.

Here is the event log

Re: BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

so this is a wireless problem not that your hh5 is dropping internet connection    have you thought of something like a wireless access point to extend your wifi

you could also select the wireless channels manually rather that leave it on auto

Re: BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

Oh really? Thank you for the quick reply. I dont think a wireless access point would help too much as the HH is not situated too far from any device. No less than 10 metres between any of the devices. What channel would you recommend?

Re: BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

Turn off smart wireless, and manually select channel 13, that is usually quite good.

You also have a device at IP address 192.168.1.64 which keeps opening and closing port 50904, are you aware of that?

Re: BT INFINITY WITH HH5 CONTINUALLY DROPPING CONNECTION AND RESETTING

Get a wifi analyser for phone or inssider for pc and that will show you channels in use and then try and select a free channel in hub

That would be my laptop. Is there anyway to fix this?

Go into the home hub settings and disable UPnP, that should stop it. That might also be the cause of your disconnections.

If you do not know what is causing it, then you may have spyware or a trojan program running on your laptop. Its not a known port number.
