BT Parental Controls - Home Hub required?

Go to solution

I am considering moving to BT Infinity (from EE). I use an Apple Time Capsule and have seen useful posts here showing how you can avoid using the Home Hub altogether and just connect the Infinity modem directly to the Time Capsule.

This would be my preferred approach however I am keen to use the BT Parental Controls but it is not clear to me whether they require the Hub to operate or whether they are can be set via a browser?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Parental controls are network based, and will work with any router, provided that you make sure that the DNS servers are obtained automatically from BT.

You cannot use any other DNS servers when BT Parental controls are active.

Bear in mind that BT do not use the Openreach modem anymore, and use the home hub 5, which is a modem/router.

You can of course buy a secondhand Openreach modem from certain online places. This would give you much more flexibility. You will find plenty of help on this forum.
