Hi all,
My android TV has an issue where every few days it loses connection to the internet (despite being connected directly to the BT Homehub 5 by ethernet)
When the connection is lost i cannot access internet or local network. In order to fix this i need to turn off router for 30 seconds and then hard restart the TV. All remains fine for a while then same happens.
I have tried many things to fix this and the last suggestion Sony are making is to disable IPv6. I know you cannot do this on the router so i have two options..
1) buy a new router (can you use alternate routers with BT? How do you get the settings if so?
2) somehow schedule overnight restarts of the router to similate the restart. I was thinking maybe smart plug and turning off overnight. Didnt know if this could potentially damage the router to just turn off the plug each night?
What would the community suggest?
Get your own router. Turning the hub off on a regular basis could potentially fool DLM into thinking there is a connection problem and take action.
Have you turned off Smart Setup in the hub?

Try a different router.
This one costs about £35 and works on ADSL and VDSL. Usually available from Argos, or online.
