Not sure what GG has in mind, but might be worth temporarily disabling Avast to see if that has any effect.
Avast has been know in the past to block access to the Internet. Check in the properties of your Lan Network Card and disable any reference to Avast.
If that doesn't help check to see if there is an Avast Firewall or Avast Webshield which can be turned off.
If none of that works are you able to uninstall Avast, at least temporarily to see if that is the problem.
@eadmr04 Just curious to know if you managed to solve this.
Are you saying that even when you plugged a wireless adaptor into your computer and bypassed the Ethernet connection it still did not work.
If that is the case it would appear to me that something on your computer such as a firewall is blocking your connection. Did you try disabling Avast as suggested?
A reformat is taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut but it should work as it will put your computer back to how it was when you first got it.
