Can I bypass BT Hub 6 ?

Go to solution

I am trying to use my Linksys Velop directly with my Fibre Internet.

But it's not connecting.

I have removed my BT HUB 6, set my Velop to use PPPoE with username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com, but it won't connect.

Can I bypass the Hub 6 completely ? I really don't want to use it

Do you have FTTP or FTTC?

If FTTC if you do away with hub then you need a modem to connect your velop

When you say fibre internet do you mean full fibre, i.e you have an Openreach ONT, or do you mean FTTC and that you connect to your copper master socket. If the former you can connect the Linksys directly to the ONT, if the latter you will need a modem as well as the Linksys.

I got FTTP.

A cable plugs into a Huawei EchoLife HG8240.

That plugs into the HomeHub6.

That then connects to my Velop.

But in this configuration, I can't get to my Synology from external (Hence I want to get rid of the HH6.

You don't need the Hub6, you connect the Linksys directly to the HG8240

@licquorice

I've tried that.

Remove the HH6 and replace with a Velop node.

Set PPPoE

Username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com

No password.

It just doesn't connect.

Any ideas ?

Try entering BT as a password, its not required by BT but some devices don't seem to like a null password. Other than that, no idea. No reason it shouldn't work.
