Can't see my network name/ SSID after trying to change it

Hi all,

I recently received a BTHub 6. After setting it up, and being successfully connected to the network, I tried to change the network name/SSID on the BTHub Home managing platform.

After saving the changes, I switched off and on my computer and then tried to reconnect to the network.

The problem is that I couldn't see either the original SSID (BTHub6-XXXX) or the new network name I typed in.

I then rebooted the Hub holding down the Factory Settings reset button for 20 seconds and after restarting, still no trace of the signal under the original SSID...

I really don't understand what could cause that problem and would be most grateful if anyone could help me address that matter.

Thanks,
AO

Re: Can't see my network name/ SSID after trying to change it

Strange. Are you able to connect via Ethernet and make sure you didn't turn it off by accident? Although a factory reset should have enabled it again.

Do you have any other devices in your home to try and see if you can connect to the router with, are you close enough to the router as well?

Re: Can't see my network name/ SSID after trying to change it

Yes I do have several other devices at home and I can't see the network on any of them even after the factory reset - which is very strange to me.
I am close enough to the router, as I was trying to solve the problem just next to it...

I unfortunately can't try the Ethernet way (do not have the adaptor for my Mac), but am pretty sure it is not turned off, as the Blue light is on.

Yes to me too.

On your Mac (or any other device really)
If you click the Wi-FI Symbol press 'Join Other Network...' and enter the standard credentials and then the ones you set (if that doesn't work), and see if it connects?

Re: Can't see my network name/ SSID after trying to change it

I did try this way as well on my Mac, unfortunately, every single time it says that no network was found - either with the original credentials or the ones I tried to set.

This is why I came to raise the subject here, as I was litterally running out of inspiration to get past that problem!

Are the BTWiFi networks available? BTWIFI, BT WiFI with Fon etc?

Yes they are.

Unfortunately, I can't be 100% certain they are available from my hotspot or from my neighbor's hotspots...

Is there a way I could possibly check that?

Re: Can't see my network name/ SSID after trying to change it

The only way I know of is to connect to these networks, download an iPhone App called 'WiFi Sweetspots' click start and if it's receiving at about 160 - 200 mbps then it's probably yours.
Honestly, I am kind of running out of ideas, hopefully someone smarter will respond or you could try calling BT but that's a bit of a process!
Other than factory resetting it again or getting an old laptop out with an ethernet port on it and connecting to 192.168.1.254 again and checking it out to see if it's enabled.

Should try that and keep you posted.

Hopefully someone can help us resolve that!

If you are still in contract, call customer services and get a replacement hub.
