Cctv remote access

Hi, I previously used my IP address to access my cctv when not on home Wi-fi. I changed the ip every time it changed. The ip changed a week or so ago, and not I can not seem to be able to now look at the cctv when not at home. All is fine when using home Wi-fi.

anny ideas. Thanks in advance.

@And3rs

Welcome to this user forum.

Which BT Home hub are you using?

As your IP address is dynamic, how did you tell that it had changed, without a DDNS service?

Re: Cctv remote access

Hi there, we have a bt smart hub , the cctv worked great after this was fitted in September. Problems started after we had a new kitchen fitted . I presume that the power being turned off numerous times could have change a setting?.. this was when we noticed that we only could get access to the cctv when on home network. Previously we hadn’t port forwarded to get remote access. Hence a little confused as to why this stopped. We started using the external io address to view but this stopped a couple of weeks ago after it changed . Previously I would update the new ip an all would work again. I hope that covers it.

Re: Cctv remote access

Has the cameras local IP address (the 192.168.1.xxx address on your home network) changed as a result of all the power interuptions?

Hi , the 192.168.xx.xx address has not changed, and is correct on the hub .

Re: Cctv remote access

I have no idea, as if you are not forwarding a port, I cannot see how you could view the CCTV from outside of your home network.

Perhaps you had forwarded a port, and a firmware update on the home hub has reverted the settings to factory default?

Re: Cctv remote access

So, just to be clear, the camera is set for static IP and that IP address is shown as Connected on the hub manager (Advanced settings - My Network)? if it is connected then the icon should be green and the connection status field shows as Connected when you click on that device.

If the icon is grey and/or it shows as Not Connected then it is not set for static IP and there will be another address for that device in the table.

Re: Cctv remote access

I recommend asking on a specialist IP camera manufacturers forum for you camera or app or for generic advice you can use something like...

https://ipcamtalk.com/whats-new/posts/1081908/

For security reasons I do not forward ports and use a vpn server to access my cameras remotely.
