Changed HH5 to aTp-Link Archer VR900

I have had many problems with a Smart hub and, whilst my HH5 was better, speed wise, it never ran for more than 1 and a bit days before restarting. I decided to treat myself this Christmas and nabbed an Archer VR900, wow! Up time currently 7 days and d/ l speeds steady at 60. WiFi speeds also seem to be up, especially when streaming 4K tv. The speed may be coincidental, but the HH5 peaked at 52/3 and the Smarthub used to gradually slow down to about 30 before a reboot was required to get any more speed out of it.
Any way chuffed to bits and the setup was an absolute doddle.

Re: Changed HH5 to aTp-Link Archer VR900

The home hubs do have legacy issues inherited from the original home hub 1, so its not surprising that the VR900 performs better.

Unless you are very lucky, and have only moderate expectations, a compatible third party router will generally perform better than any cheap ISP provided router.

Both the VR900 and the cheaper W9970, seem to suffer less disconnects than the home hubs.
