Cisco RV340 router IPv6 on BT ultrafast FTTP set up help

Go to solution

Hi All,

I am running BT ultrafast FTTP and I have replaced my BT smart hub with a Cisco RV340 router.

I have it all set up and it's working fine but I don't know how to set up IPv6. I'm stumped with the IPv6 WAN and LAN settings.

Here are the relevant setting pages. On the WAM page do I need to tick DHCP-PD and if so what do I put in the 'Prefix name' box?

On the LAN page I have no idea!

Any help much appreciated.  Thanks.

Tick the DHCP-PD box, BT use  /56 PD so try 56 as prefix name.

In the other settings, I would try ticking prefix from DHCP -PD, and prefix length 56.

Possibly try ticking EUI 64

Edit: Rather than PPPoE for IPv6, try DHCP.  The PPPoE should be handled by IPv4.

Further Edit: Not sure if the prefix length in the second screen refers to the WAN or LAN prefix. The LAN prefix is 64

Might be better asking on Cisco forum.

Does your menu change if you select SLAAC or DHCP? IPV6 works with either of these on BT.

I leave mine on DHCP  and  on the LAN the DHCP server is disabled. I do have an issue with a couple of browsers not being able to access the "Link-Local" address for my TP-lINK router.

@LondonLad

All I can add is that not all routers support BT's implementation of IPv6. This may or may not be the case with this Cisco router.

Thank you all.

I have tried all the suggestions without any luck.

The only WAN setting that gives me a WAN IPv6 ip address AND a default gateway address  in the system summary page is if i use the PPPoE option but the connection is still shown as 'down' i haven't spent too much time on the ipv6 LAN settings as it seems pointless until I get the WAN side sorted.

I'm probably on the verge of being out of my depth here!

I'll try the cisco forums as suggested.

thank you all for your help so far.

Can you post a screenshot of the options available if you select DHCP and tick PD on the first screen.
