Configuring the HH5 Firewall

I have a Home Hub 5.

I want to deny some sites from access via a specific games console or specific desktop PC. How can I do this?

I want to ensure that sessions initiated on specific ports from inside are denied. i.e. I want to use the hub admin function to control i.e. deny some services/programmes.

Can this be done? (I think not).

Does the HH6 make any difference?

Is there a "how to" build a firewall, maybe using a Raspberry PI.

Re: Configuring the HH5 Firewall

You could try access controls.

However, if it is to try and stop a computer literate child from using the device you might be luckier pushing water up hill.

Most controls to stop access to specific devices are fairly easy to circumvented.

Another option might be Parental Controls. They work at the BT Network level.

Re: Configuring the HH5 Firewall

This looks like time only. This isn't what I need.

Using Parental Controls is also an unacceptable intrusion, last time I looked it was insufficintly granular. It only does what they want, not what I want.

I need to block the BBC Iplayer from certain devices but not others. I also want to deny certain ports on the Gateway, even if the session is initiated from inside the firewall.

Re: Configuring the HH5 Firewall

The Homehubs are pretty well locked down so I doubt that you will be able to do what you want using the Homehub however somebody with more knowledge of the Homehub may be able to advise otherwise.

EDIT. BBC have parental controls for the iPlayer but they need to be set up on each device. I don't know how easily they can be circumvented but no doubt an Internet search will tell you.

Re: Configuring the HH5 Firewall

Unfortunately the functionality you are requesting is not part of the HH. Various manufacturers have some of or all of this functionality but you are looking at approx 100-200, and even then for a tech savvy kid these will all be childishly easy to bypass.
