Hi I’m new to the board and I admit I only have limited technical knowledge.
I have an ASUS router that has VPN installed. I want to connect it to my BT smart hub.
Does anyone have an idiots guide or can point me in the right direction for some simple instructions on how to do it ?
Thanks in advance
Rob
Welcome to this user forum.
The smart hub cannot act as just a modem, so if you connect it the the WAN port of the router, you will end up with double NAT, and you will probably find the VPN will not work.
Do you have an FTTC or FTTP (direct fibre) connection?

Hi Keith we have Halo 2 fibre. Not sure but guess it FTTC.
If it comes down your phone line, then its FTTC.
The only way you are going to get your router to work as intended, is to buy a separate modem. You can find plenty of secondhand Openreach modems online which you could try.
You would not use the smart hub 2 at all, but you must keep hold of it, as its only on loan from BT.
Yes, you can bodge it like that but you will be double natting and routing.
