Connecting a TPLink Archer D5 to BT infinity

Hi there
I have currently just switched to BT infinity. I have a very new TP link ArcherD5 router I want to use but I cannot get it to connect. All seems ok but the WAN connection refuses to connect through the quick setup page.
BT won't give me a username either, which doesn't help as they won't support any router that isn't theirs.
I am trying to set up with my apple laptop which doesn't have an Ethernet connection.
Please can someone advise what I can do. Many thanks

Re: Connecting a TPLink Archer D5 to BT infinity

the archer appears to have adsl2 modem but not vdsl modem so will not work on infinity without a modem

username is generic   bthomehub@btbroadband.com  and password anything you want

Thanks for that.
Do you know if a TP TD-W8970B would work? Many thanks
