Connections Issues To a Specific Server

Hi,

In the last few days I've started having connections issues with an online game that I play that connects to a specific server, the ping is generally ok but I get some really bad spikes that cause the game to drop out. Now I know this isn't a problem with my home network, speed tests are fine, I'm on ethernet and everything else works absolutely fine including connections to servers in other locations. The final nail in the coffin for the issue being specific to my own network is if I connect to a VPN (that I specifically purchased) my connection is fine. I believe this is how the traffic is being routed by BT or possibly back to me.

Essentially to troubleshoot this I think it's going to need to be potentially BT or if the problem is with the traffic coming back to me then the server hosting company. Anyone got any advice for raising an issue like this, I essentially dread having to explain that I don't need to turn my router off and on again.
