Re: Does BT have a DNS server?

As well as your DNS settings in your router, you can also change them manually for the device your using too.

If you want the same DNS servers you have assigned the router too then just enter the routers IP address in the DNS primary nameserver field on your devices IP settings.

Otherwise enter the primary and secondary DNS servers on your devices ip config menu.

See http://www.howtogeek.com/167533/the-ultimate-guide-to-changing-your-dns-server/ (BT Retail has no responsibility over third party links and websites. )

Also if your using a PC then in cmd (command prompt) you could see if nslookup bbc.co.uk gives your the BBC's resolved IP address

Re: Does BT have a DNS server?

If you have bt parental controls enabled at the network level that will block any dns servers other than BT's.

Have you tried OpenDNS as an alternative to the DNS servers you're currently using?

Primary: 208.67.222.222

Secondary: 208.67.220.220

I've been using OpenDNS for quite a while and I personally find that they respond faster than BT's or Google's DNS servers.
