I assume its the HH6 you are talking about, or is it a different one?
If its the HH6, then it could be an issue with line errors making it difficult to reconnect.
What else makes the router restart?
Setting or removing port forwarding should not make the router restart.
Is your line noisy when using the phone? Dial 17070 and select option 2, should be quiet between the announcements.
If that is the case do you have any tips to help fix it?
Please do the following which may resolve this issue.
Reset the home hub to factory default.
Turn off Smart Setup
Disable uPnP on the home hub.
Then configure your port forwarding rules again.
Also check for line noise as @Liam_ said.
uPnP could be trying to respond to portmap requests from applications running on your computer, at the same time as you are making changes yourself, which is why turning it off as soon as possible, is important.
