Extending range of home hub

Hello all

i want to extend the range of my home hub so that it covers the upstairs room of our detached garage which is about 15-20 metres away from the home hub sat in the hall of our house. any advice on how i can do this as cheaply as possible as it is only a temporary measure for a few weeks while son is home from university and working on a project up there in peace.

thanks

Re: Extending range of home hub

This link shows one alternative.

Increasing wireless range using a TP-Link TL-WA701ND

A more reliable method would be to use a couple of powerline adapters, provided his computer has a network (LAN) port.

What are powerline devices and how do they work?

Search for TP-Link TL-PA211KIT AV200 Nano 200Mbps Powerline Adapter - Twin Pack

Re: Extending range of home hub

Powerline adapters only work if they are on the same electric circuit and not segregated.

Keith

Your link refers to using the HH3, does the TL-WA701ND work with the HH4 as a wireless repeater as I am struggling to get coverage throughout the house with my new HH4.

Re: Extending range of home hub

Bump - has anyone else used this repeater with the HH4. Keen to find out if it works OK before I order one.

Thanks

Re: Extending range of home hub

Well I took the plunge and ordered a TP-Link TL-WA701ND.

It works fine as a repeater with the HH4.

Thank you Keith for the instructions on your website. Worked a treat, up and running in less than 5 minutes.

Re: Extending range of home hub

Thanks, that is useful information. I could not see any reason why it should not work with the HH4.

I am sure your comments will be helpful to others.
