FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

Hi,

I have now had FTTP connected since December last year and I did first notice the net pages where very laggy the browser would take a while to load also pictures would take a while to show up as well as pages very laggy up and down I thought this maybe just a settling in stage but it’s still the same I have tried to change the channels in the smart hub but nothing really helps the speeds are perfect it hits the full 220/20 ethernet. Can anyone advise me on what maybe wrong I was thinking maybe the white Openreach box might be setup wrong but I’m not sure how to access the settings or what’s the correct setup?
Thanks

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

Have you phone the FTTP team on 08005874787 and reported the problem

is it wireless connection that is causing the problem?  Did you split the networks as many devices don't like the networks combined. Then you can try different channels manually or change the wireless mode which may also help

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

If I read you correctly pages are loading ok over ethernet, it's just wifi that's laggy?

If you're using the Smarthub and haven't already done it then try seperating the 2.4G anf 5G networks and experiment with the modes (1, 2 & 3)

In addition if you're running windows 10 then try troubleshooting your wireless adapter (Start, Settings, Update & Security, Troubleshoot, Network Adapter) and setting the DNS on your wireless adapter to either google or OpenDns

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

Thanks for your reply

Its still laggy via Ethernet it’s the speed tests that check out all ok.

I have my smart hub setup separate 2.4/5ghz I have not looked at the other modes reason being I was told no.1 setting was the best anyway. Unless you can suggest maybe no.2/3 are better.

DNS setting is not an option too much hassle our end.

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

Settings are on mode 1 channel (smart)11 2.4. &. 5ghz channel 36 that seems to be the best setting but still not great

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

mode 1 is the best but only if it suits your devices hence the reason for modes 2 & 3  you can try selecting the channels manually after using a wifi analyser to see where neighbours routers are connecting

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

Sorry I misread you. The mode setting is for wifi only, it will make no difference at all to ethernet connections.

When you say it's still laggy over ethernet is that direct to your hub or via a powerline connector and (stupid question number 1 Smiley Wink) how long is the ethernet cable.

Re: FTTP 220/20 laggy internet problem?

I’m talking about Wi-fi but yes it’s laggy via Ethernet cable as well but the settings I’m testing Wi-fi at the moment. The Ethernet cable is just a basic bt yellow cable no power line no good! I bought a power line set spent £70.00 it was terrible the extenders are a lot more efficient.
