FTTP & smarthub 2

Had FTTP installed last week with a new Smarthub 2. This replaces FTTC with BTHub 6.

I've wondered about the performance and today I tested it with the BTW and Speednet checkers.

If my laptop is connected via a wired connection to the Smarthub I am seeing 284mb. However if I use wifi (Either 2.4 or 5 ghz) it shows about 35mb where previously I saw 50mb, which from my point of view defeats the reason for the upgrade.

Any suggestions please?

Many thanks

Re: FTTP & smarthub 2

Try changing the wirless channel on the Hub.

Also remember that you need to run the speeds tests to the exact same server (Speedtest.net) especially.

But wireless channel might help, if not you migth want to look into a mesh solution for wider WiFi range.

Re: FTTP & smarthub 2

Many thanks for your help, sorry about the delay in responding.
I had the Smarthub rescan and it changed the channel but with no inprovement. There are over a dozen routers listed on the network list of my laptop so I would guess the wifi bands are somewhat congested.
I will investigate a mesh network.
Many thanks again.
