Its mainly the mains power units that have been failing, so having a spare compatible PSU may be prudent.

Just to update, It was straight forward.  Unplug network, reboot pfsense, plug network from ONT and it worked. Tere is but, atm I'm getting(down/up) ~530/105Mbps. When trying BT Smart HUB2 #920/50Mbps. Any idea what I could try to get SG-3100 to runn #900Mbps

You would need to ask that on a pfsense forum. Possibly the hardware isn't capable of higher speeds.

The problem is PPPoE is single threaded on BSD and a pfSense firewall with a slow cpu isn't going to achieve gigabit PPPoE throughput.  If you want to use pfSense for gigabit speeds then you will need a machine with a faster cpu like an i3-6100.

It's interesting that this model was advertised as 2.44Gbps and it's struggling with 1Gbps.
So if this issue is related to BSD, would other models like 5100/6100 be able to lift 1Gbps (as they have better CPUs), or they would be to slow?
I've tried my old Asus RT-AC68U and it is maxing it out 950/109 as soon as pfsense is connected (IPv4 static) it's back to ~530/105, so not sure if this is only PPPOE issue.
Any idea if HP620 with NC364T would run 1Gbps PPPOE? I'm trying to find something low power allowing to utilize full bandwidth.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

The advertised 2.44Gbps does not relate to PPPoE throughput - I can't see any reference to the PPPoE performance.  Rather than look at more expensive Netgate appliances you would be better off just buying a cheap second hand SFF desktop PC such as the HP ProDesk 600 G3 SFF with i5-7500 for £100 (plus a cheap Intel dual core network card) and install pfSense yourself.
