just brought back Google Home from the States and when setting it up my BT wifi keeps turning to yellow flashing light and I need to reset the hub before my wifi goes blue again.. I did get a message saying the wifi might not be compatible because the google home was recognised as "foreign".. I cant get google home set up because the wifi on router always stops working mid set-up.. is their compatibility issues.. my smart phone can connect to the google home wifi and my BT router.. Ive tried connecting with smart set up on and off. same thing happens...HELP PLEASE :((
I think that the wireless frequency allocations are different in the USA, and it may not be legal to operate it in the UK. I expect that Google have build in some form of protection to prevent it operating on the wrong frequencies, and possibly interfering with other services.
There is a list of WiFi frequencies here.
You might try manually setting the WiFi channel on your network and seeing if this helps. There is a guide here:
If you go this manual route you might also want to install a WiFi channel scanner on your phone to see what the signal quality is like on any given channel. I use WiFiAnalyzer, but there are loads of options in the app stores. The downside of manual tuning is your neighboursmay change channels over time and affect your WiFi signal quality.
BTW, have you installed the Google Home App? Can it see your new device in it's current state?
