Help! New SmartHub can’t work with my setup?

Hello,
Our router broke so we purchased a SmartHub but our set up is a Broadband Filter plugged into the landline with phone port and Modem port. We have never had a modem the grey cable was plugged directly into the router which worked perfectly HOWEVER with the new SmartHub it says it requires the red Ethernet cable to be plugged in but the red Ethernet cable is too big to fit in the modem port of my filter.
Help! Tried using the grey cable into my SmartHub but it’s just flashing purple and won’t connect?
Any help would be appreciated!

The colour of the Ethernet cables are irrelevant so do not worry about that.

If you have a white Openreach modem you can do away with the Openreach modem that is plugged into the phone socket.

You just plug the Smarthub into the phone socket using the "telephone" cable .
