Hi all,
I am very new to all this, so sorry if some of my understandings on things technical aren't very high.
Situation
I currently have a BT Home Hub in my house.
I am building an garden office 120ft away in my garden
I am running electricity and an Ethernet cable from the house to the shed.
For the Ethernet cable, I was planning on attaching one end to an Ethernet port on the BT Hub, then connecting it to something in the shed.
Question
What is an easy solution for me to buy to connect my Ethernet cable to in my shed, that will give me WIFI?
I have looked at Access points, but get confused when it goes on about POE and most seem to reference being for businesses as opposed to a simpler situation like I have.
Is anyone able to recommend me a plug and play type option that my non-technical brain can set up and user?
Thanks so much
Solved! Go to Solution.
All you need is a basic wireless access point such as the TP Link 901. You don't need POE (power over Ethernet) as you have a power supply in the shed.
So I can buy this, plus my Ethernet cable into it, connect its power cable to the sheds power point and off I go?
Assume setting a password etc so I can connect my devices is easy?
I know these are probably silly questions, but I really have no idea
See https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/access-point/tl-wa901n/
Its just plug and play. There is a setup wizard, although I think the default is wireless access point.
Amazing, thank you all
