Home Hub 3 locked ina rebooting cycle

Go to solution
I have a Home Hub 3 connected to an white Openreach modem.

As I watch the lights on the front, I get the orange power flash then turn blue, then the WiFi turn blue, then the broadband flashes purple/orange then turns blue.

Once all the lights are stable, I try to connect a WiFi device, at which point the WiFi drops off line - the light goes out on the HH and the signal strength at my device goes to zero - and then the HH3 restarts - all 3 lights go out, power light comes on orange for about 30sec then turns blue etc.

I've tried rebooting the HH, the modem and the HH, and doing a factory reset on the hub using the button on the back.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated, I'm at the point of trashing it and buying a new router

Welcome to this user forum.

Its probably faulty, you could either as BT for another router, which would involve re-contracting, or buy your own router for about £30, either way, you would not need to use the Openreach modem.

Please ask if you have any problems. The full configuration details are on my website.

I would keep hold of the Openreach modem, and put it away somewhere, as it may be helpful if you ever need to prove the DSL connection, in the event of a line fault.

It must be listening in Smiley Wink

Anyway, a single unit is much neater, and you can do a lot more with that router, like allocating priority and bandwidth to users on your network, and allow guests to use it, without them having access to your own network.

The new unit is in and running.
One very useful feature - I've created a second SSID with the same details as my old hub, so the various phones and tablets have connected straight away.

Thanks again for your help

Wow, that was quick Smiley Wink

Yes, its a very good router for the price, lots of extra features.

If there is any aspect that you need help with, then please ask.

I keep a spare router here, with which I can provide help.

Like on this thread https://community.bt.com/t5/Connected-Devices-Other/BT-Infinity-with-Cisco-Umbrella-OpenDNS/td-p/180...

There are features like bandwidth control, and website blocking, which can be helpful in some situations.
