Home Hub 4

None of my devices have joined the 5GHz network they are all on the 2.4 GHz. I have tried giving the 5GHz a separate SSID so that on certain computers - mainly my sons gaming Samsung Laptop I can choose to login to the 5GHz network but I cannot see the 5 GHz network on any of the laptops that are capable of viewing the 5GHz networks. Also I have run inSSIDer and that doesn't show up anything in the 5GHz window. Have I missed enabling something or do I have a faulty hub as no 5GHz can be seen or found?

Re: Home Hub 4

See this link and in particular things to remember. You need to "forget" the 2.4GHz connection.

Re: Home Hub 4

Had already tried all this and it does nothing at all. As devices are supposed to make the 'smart' choice between 2.4 and 5 I would expect something like inSIDDer to be able to see both and as it cant I cannot see the point in have dual networks as only the one is seen which reduces you back to the normal hub

Re: Home Hub 4

Both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz should be turned on by default on the Homehub 4. If you can not see the 5GHz one then it may be that for some reason it has either been turned off or is not transmitting. I would try a factory reset of the Homehub by pressing a pin into the recessed reset button on the back for about 20 seconds. Once the hub has reset try scanning for the hub on your devices.

See this link about dual frequency

Re: Home Hub 4

Done as suggested and only the 25GHz can be seen on channel 11 nothing can be seen in 5GHz window!

Re: Home Hub 4

Sounds like you have a faulty hub. The reset should have put everything back to the default settings.

See link for reporting fault. They will no doubt want to take you through a number of checks from their script so be prepared!!

Re: Home Hub 4

Is there not a setting on the hub to separately enable each wireless band? There is on the Virgin Media Superhub 2.

Re: Home Hub 4

There is but a factory reset should have enabled them both as this is the default for the hub.
