Home Hub 5 VPN issues after firmware upgrade

Hi all, hope you can help...

I use Check Point SecureClient to connect to work, it connected perfectly until this morning and it It fails with a "failed to update policy" error.

Nothing else had changed, and I could connect to my VPN using my 3G MiFi, so I checked the home hub and the firmware had been upgraded to Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204  yesterday evening.

I've spent all day on the phone and chat to BT, and the best they could offer was a call to the tech team who might charge me for fixing this!

Has anyone managed to get round this issue? Is it a known fault?  Is a new router the best option, if so which can be configured with the minimum of guesswork?

Have you tried the VPN setting on the Homehub?

Re: Home Hub 5 VPN issues after firmware upgrade

Yes, but it didn't make any difference. The support desk at work said that this is a common issue caused by the latest firmware that is rolling out.

Have you tried connecting through BT Wifi on your Homehub?

Yes, vpn connects through the BT FON WiFi, but it is slower and the signal isn't song enough to get to the other side of the house where my home office is so it's not really a long term fix.

Re: Home Hub 5 VPN issues after firmware upgrade

So that's on the same Homehub and firmware?

If you are looking for a direct replacement, the Billion 8800NL should do. Alternatively, you could try a 2nd hand OR modem at auction which may work.

Yes, the same homehub and firmware.

Is there any way to regress the firmware?
