So slow that internet connections are lost

iPhone gives similar results

I am not able to do a further speedtest on the laptop and ethernet but I have never found the speeds to be anything other than excellent. It is on wifi that the problem occurs. In identical conditions (less than 1 meter away from the router) the speed on my iPad varies between 0.39 and 51.1 download, and 0.32 and 15.1 upload. On my iPhone (late model) the speeds vary between 2.00 and 71.9 download, and 2.66 and 17.2 upload.
