How are you actually supposed to setup an Eero on BT FTTC?

So to start off with, I know that alot of people still use the Home Hub and all this DMZ stuff but then that gets rid of the best part of the Eero, its SQM feature.

I currently have a Billion 8800NL that I was using as a bridge. Inputted the 0 and 101 VLAN tags but then I realised that the Eero still couldn't connect. I did more reading and apparently only the 6 models support PPPoE.

The thing is, how does this actually help? Will a 6 model with PPPoE suppport allow the following:

RJ11 from wall into 8800NL > 8800NL set into bridging mode with 0 and 101 tags > RJ45 from 8800NL to Ethernet port on Eero 6.

The problem I am having is that at no point did the eero app during setup ever ask me to input credentials so how is it ever supposed to authenticate with the bthomehub@btbroadband.com stuff? I don't want to order the 6 model now and run into the same problem.

You need to ask on an eero forum, you're more likely to get answer there.

So I figured it out. You do have to set the network up wrongly first of all to gain access to the main Eero page and then from there you can go to ISP settings and enable PPPoE support with bthomehub@btbroadband.com

Then you set your old modem/router to bridging mode.

The only thing I am not sure of now is that I have an uplink vlan tag option with a value I can enter from 1 to 4094. Is any of this needed for BT?
