Is there a means of disabling the modem or otherwise instructing the Smart Hub 6 that broadband isn't being used so stop flashing that highly irritating purple LED? (In my case because all I am using it for is as a 802-11ac access point so it will never see a broadband connection unless my ECI modem or ASUS router fail and I end up temporarily using the Hub 6 as BT intended)
Probably unlikely as it is designed for "plug and play" but I ask just in case.

Nope, can't be done. Black gaffer tape is your friend.
Thanks, licquorice. A shame that in targeting the lowest common denominator in the user-base decisions have been taken to cripple via software what is actually quite a capable device. Don't get me going on the "-5" automatically appended to my AC SSID!
Have you tried to turn it off.

Or, perhaps that does not work in emergancies.
