Hub 4.0 and roku 2400 unit issues with iPlayer

Hi,

I use a BT Home hub 4.0 type A and a Roku 2400 device.  Has worked for many months but a month/2 months  or so back the iPlayer stopped working. Go to iPlayer and get iplayer banner and then blank screen. Everything else working ok.

Been on to Roku support and lots of resetting, downloading later there is no change or difference.  Roku have given me the following advice:

please contact your internet service provider and assign the following Google DNS to your network

please change the DNS to the following : 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

My IT guru friend says this should all be automatic so I am puzzled!

any ideas what this means?  any help most appreciated.

I might be wrong as I never use hubs, but I don't think you can change the DNS servers in the Hub 4.  You should be able to set the DNS servers in your roku 2400, have a look at the manual.

Re: Hub 4.0 and roku 2400 unit issues with iPlayer

Hi @oneillg

If you have parental controls enabled, try turning them off, waiting a minute, and seeing if that makes any difference.

Looks like there may have been some issues with Roku / iPlayer a bit earlier in the year:

The way to debug this would be to use wireshark in conjunction with a port mirroring switch:

Cheers

P.
