Is it possible to plug a device straight into the wall socket?

Go to solution

I've moved my router upstairs via a long ethernet cable, for 5-6 years now and it's been all good. However, I was wondering if I got a adapter to make it have 2 ethernet plugs, can I use one for the router, and one for another device? Or can I use the test socket, and the main at the same time? I have been using the test socket for 5 years as I had issues with the main socket back then!

@arjanvirdi

You just need an Ethernet switch.

This one has five ports,

You simply connect your existing Ethernet cable from the BT Home Hub, and plug it into one of the ports on the switch, and then you can use the other four ports for other devices.

@arjanvirdi Do you actually mean Ethernet or have you just extended the phone line to the hub's DSL port.

What precisely do you want to do, what other device are you hoping to connect.
