Re: Lag, lag and more lag

I too dizzy from being spun round in circles by nobody giving a monkies toss about games performing well below par.

I have a neighbour who just started using BT Superfast, on my recommendation.   I will visit them tomorrow and try running dslreport and think broadband speed tests.    If they see same bufferbloat issues, and we both on same cabinet then ....

Re: Lag, lag and more lag

Also, ive noticed after examining my connection that when the lag gets really bad , i find out that download speed drops really low like 8mbps sometimes lower. Whats that a sign of? Faulty router?

Re: Lag, lag and more lag

It could be.   Try reproducing using an other hub?

I too have been seeing unusually low speed test results but just put it down to issues with http or https and ipv6 and keep trying different speed tests.  ThinkBroadband and dslreport as well as fast.com are my most used.   Puma6 on dslreport site is handy too.

There are many similar threads describing similar issues but the workarounds that can help seem to have temporary affect only.

A neighbour recently got BT Superfast 1 and is seeing rediciously low speed and high latency for both up and down.    So something could going on at our cabinet.

Re: Lag, lag and more lag

Kinda wished i went to zen when i switched from virgin. Unfortunately, now im tied into a 15 month contract.

Ive bought my own router and going to see if there's an improvement. If not im going to keep contacting BT that they either do something or they can let me leave for a poor service haha

Re: Lag, lag and more lag

Those aren't trace routes, they merely show ping to different servers across the world. Can't really tell anything from those results as all they tell anyone is that you had high ping.

Or am I reading it wrong, and its' just a weird way of displaying a traceroute?

Re: Lag, lag and more lag

No it's a traceroute to easo.ea.com server. I had to use a phone app as i don't have a pc. Anyways, i found out what's causing my issue, its a widely fluctuating download speed. Been gaming all night and when i started noticing the lag at its worst i did a speedtest on my connection and my download speed had dropped really low. My upload is always normal speed but my download is fluctuating widely. Do you know what could be causing it? BT has said my connection is fine but clearly im having issues. Bt has sent me a new superhub out because they think its my superhub thats causing but i just think they're lying to me just to give me a answer as i keep complaining but i tried my own third party router and the issue was still occuring. Im probably going to pay the early disconnect fees and switch if bt can't solve it. Do you know any good isps that you can recommend?
