Ping plotter after DC and a modem restart to re-sync at a more real speed (31Mbps)
When I was synced at 23Mbps my ping was 200ms constantly.
When you say things like "I applied my own QoS profile on DD-WRT router but it does not work" just screams BT are applying their own QoS profile even when you are not using a BT Home Hub/Smart Hub.
Are BT preventing use of custom QoS profiles?.
Would BT tell you if your internet connection is being throttled if you had unusually high monthly data usage? Like if you streaming interactive content from the cloud at 4K@60fps stream capture parameters?
Is "unlimited" really "unlimited"?
I can't help feeling BT are gimping our internet connections, on purpose, by design which is causing issues like what we are describing.
Used to be able to have 2 people in the house gaming with at least 2 1080p streams going on at the same time without any problems.
But evidently by the look of all the threads on this forums every gamer on BT has started to have major ping issues whilst a stream is active - starting around December sort of time.
It's July now and it's still going on, for the past half a year I've just had to co-ordinate with the rest of the people in my house about when we can stream/game so they no longer coincide - that said I'm used to gaming and watching a stream on the same machine - and as a household used to having more than one person doing this at the same time with it being fine.
I've left it this long because I know when I get in contact with BT support they will be unhelpful and uncooperative, as per previous experiences with both ringing them up and with the online chat service. @h3x1e what is your approach to get to the actual people who know what they are talking about?
I may also start a thread and post my own findings etc.
I just tested my ping on overwatch with 2 1080p YouTube videos playing and my ping was 35 steady but sometimes spikes to 50 then drops. No noticeable lag or anything.
Is this is good @h3x1e my 10 days deadline finishes on Monday so I have to give them an answer. They've been no ping spikes since Thursdays as well my ping is steady 10-30 ms.
So the thing with Youtube is it isn't a streaming service, if you're watching a video it'll buffer a chunk of the video then use bare minimum bandwidth to keep buffering it, so spikes to 50 would be normal.
Try something like a twitch TV which is gonna be a constant 800-1000KB/s bandwidth usage, and if your ping is fine there, then I would say your issue is fixed.
If you could post a PingPlotter graph so I can see your route now, with the fixed ping I'd really appreciate it.
Also did you call a number to get hold of people who actually could do something about your route or? If so could you provide the number, in DM or something.
I just kept complaining and they put my case to a specialist team they told me they gonna put me on a different route.
My issue was different to yours though my ping spikes used to happen when the network idle as well, right now my ping network issues are fixed I mean when the network is idle so it's a bit better. However I'm still not sure if all my issues are solved as FIFA still lags like crazy when someone is playing YouTube other games do not. I'm not on PC right now so I can't post ping plotter but my ping is improved a bit, although I'm still having like 20/30ms jitters.
My point is I can live with this if my ping is stable when idle because I don't live in a busy household. So it's manageable until my contract finishes in 4 months.
@Bloodraven sorry didn't see your post. I've had no luck getting in contact with people who know or can do anything about it at the moment. The forum Mods here have been in contact now so we'll see what comes of that, some people seems to get in contact with the right people faster than others as seems to be the case with @lolowalsh .
It would be a huge help to post your findings in your own thread, it need's to be all over these forums as it's affecting all gamers even if they don't notice it yet, and by helping people use tools to post information to BT can actually start taking responsibility would be great. I would also say keep updating it with PingPlotter / PingLogger graphs on a daily basis if possible.
I will try streaming twitch and play overwatch and post a screen shot.
