Just got a latter through saying BT are still trying to fix the fault but also gave me a list of Ombusdmun contact details.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

First update here in a while (even though I've been in close contact with the MOD who's working on my case). The connection had been stable since my last post, as in no drop outs or and noise on the line.

Today though something pretty weird happened, I don't know if this is just the DLM doing funny stuff or if there was human intervention but the net dropped while I was in work and re-synced with the following:

As you can see from this Interleaving has been switched to Fast, Depth 1 (Down from 200ish)

Could this have been a DLM reset? I'm not sure so someone with more knowledge on seeing DLM resets let me know.

Looking at how fast CRC Errors are rising, I don't expect this session to last a long time.

Also see below for a ping to google while watching a twitch stream, nothing much changed still getting 20ms+ jitter.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

So I had to intervene yesterday as we were getting weird buffering on streams etc (expected with zero noise protection on the line I guess)

I noticed that SNR was at 1dB so I increased it on the modem to 3-4dB and it seems to have stabalised the line with no weird stuttering / buffering happening now. Sync dropped from 42Mbps to 39Mbps but thats expected with an SNR increase and it doesnt bother me as it's still faster than the 32Mbps we got previously.

Even though CRC errors are building at 800 since my last post roughly, we aren't personally seeing and ill effects from it (even though DLM will dissagree and probably intervene soon)

Ping issues still persists btw even though base ping is lower 9ms down from 17ms. Still seeing 20-25ms jitter on a good test, higher on worse.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

As expected DLM didn't like the CRC errors so has now basically reverted back to the normal line settings:

INP = ON (15 symbols)

Interleave Depth = 511

InterleaveDelay = 800 (8ms)

Sync Speed 35Mbps (Better than before)

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Connection drop at 8:30 ish just ebfore Im posting this.

 Nothing seems to have changed connection stats wise although I THINK I got an upload bump to 5.5Mbps from 5.4Mbps not sure though didnt take notice really.

It's raining kinda heavy and windy so did quiet line test also but everything is perfect on that end, will put it down to DLM.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

I don't know if you'll see this Stuart but do you know if there's any work going on at the exchange? Internet has been off for the whole street at least Sky BT everything it seems.

Any info please DM,  we have no internet at all 😛

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

yeah nothing there about my exchange / area so thats why im asking.

Service Tracker for BT and SKY doesnt show any issues either, but everyone in the immediate area is down.
