So this morning I remembered that I hadn't actually tested any other actual streaming websites, such as Mixer.

So I tested a 1080p 60 fps stream on Mixer using the same bandwidth (1MB/s~)

 

Noticing 1-2ms variance in google pings, and a solid 1.5ms Variance in Battlefield 5 (I use BF5 because it shows variance well)

 

SO this kinda proves there is something weird happening on BT's network in relation to twitch packets I would assume.

Testing this morning and the issue is still there however it's not constant again and nothing seems to have changed with the DLM messing with the line.

Instead of constant Latency variation and network icon in BF5 I was actually seeing it stay at 2-3ms variance but still spiking up to 10ms however not constantly.

hmm, stuff seems to be relatively stable, did notice that DLM had dropped connection and re-balanced though. Still getting the odd spike in ping though.

I have a question though, does a DLM reset actually reset Interleave Delay, currently sitting at 16ms was wondering if a DLM would lower it back to 8ms or could an Openreach Engineer lower than option by itself? I know it would probably screw up the stability right now but...

So Interleave depth has now been dropped to 549. InterleaveDelay reduced to 8ms, however the ping spikes still exist while watching a stream.

One question though, does anyone know if G.INP is enabled on ECI DSLAMs now? I notice that ReTx is showing as disabled when looking at the modem stats but when I check the setting  with "vdsl optn retx" in the Vigor 130 it shows as "[US] = ON,  [DS] = ON"

Update:

Openreach Engineer just left, told him everything that was going on. Showed him Ping Plotter without a stream running and also with a stream running. He could see the packet loss and sometimes no response from BT hops.

He understood what was happening and advised that he would write up a report and escalate the fault. Advised that I would receive contact within the next 24 hours with information on what will happen next.

He advised that they'll probably send out a Fiber Engineer plug in all the test equipment again and do the exact same thing, but that engineer could then go to the Street Cabinet / Exchange and see if there's anything causing issues there.

 

Real nice guy, understood that it was an issue for us and that the issue was actually an issue however rare.

We shall wait and see what BT does next I guess.

@StephanieG Hey, so I've just checked the Fault Tracker, and BT have marked it as fixed. When that was not what the case, as the Engineer said.

 

Any possibility of looking into this for me?

Also have another concern now.

We thought Netflix was having issues where it wouldn't load the main /browse page at all. (Where you select what user you want to log in as).

It started around the same time this issue did and it's happening again now...

The website wont load at all in some cases, and in others it will just load the HTML version of the website. (no images or anything)

Checked fast.com and there doesn't seem to be a speed issue there.
