Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

I won't even dare to touch overwatch with a BT internet unless you want to be banned from competitive. I will feel bad  for ruining other players experience with my ping spikes which is not fair I wouldn't want people ruin my experience either.

Fifa is the most game where I get the most ping spikes, sometimes I can manage playing quickplay on overwatch with a ping with 40 ms when someone watches YouTube, but fifa man it's impossible to play.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Horrible today I'm having low speed plus jitter of 500 ms but stable ping at 12.  I spoke to them today and they said they will be sending me their newest hub tomorrow so I will keep this thread updated if the ping spikes stops which I doubt they will.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Got two for you today, while trying to load Netflix too. Unable to load Netflix properly for a good 10mins, from when I started trying to watch something. Could the two issues be linked? Who knows.

netflixPingPlotter.jpgNetflixPingLogger.jpg

So to give a bit of info on the PingPlotter UI, just before the red line on the bottom graph is when Netflix started to load correctly. Before that it would either load only a white raw HTML page or it could load into a grey screen with the usual circular loading animation on the tab. (did this on every browser)

As you can see from the Ping Logger graph the clump in the middle is from Loading a video, about 2.6MB/s of the connection then after it buffered for a bit around the 440 mark is when it's at a stable bitrate and using about 800KB/s of the possible 3.5MB/s connection throughput.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

New router hasn't made any difference ping spikes all over the place. This is a ping test whislt playing a 480p video on youtube.

I was close to switch to Vodafone but they seem as bad as BT, it seems that I should give up on gaming since all the ISP's in the UK are having the same issue or I should move to another country.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Not all ISP's have this issue. Vodafone doesn't, Sky doesn't

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

I've seen this thread on Vodafone: https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Internet-speed/100-Proof-of-throttling-twitch-iptv-etc/td-p/2619260/...  and it's worrying.

I don't know about Sky but I need to do some research before switching ISP's, I've giving up on BT and this issue will never be solved it seems.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Yeah that's the reason I left Vodafone, but it's not the same problem at all. so.

Re: Latency Variation (Ping Spikes) during online gaming.

Which ISP's do you have in mind if you ever consider leaving BT ?
