Master Socket - Extension

My phone and router are currently connected to a phone socket in my dining room, I really want to move these in to the hallway.  The issue I have is that the master socket is in the hallway, with a wire that comes out and goes into the dining room.  The master socket does not work if I plug a phone into it.  What do I need to do to get rid of the extension and get the master socker working again?
