NETGEAR DM200 or other modem

I've managed to acquire a Synology RT2600ac Router a very nice bit of kit but it comes without a modem. At the moment I have a BT Smarthub Type A. Strangely it doesn't have a modem only option. I'm going to need a replacement modem through a quick trawl of this forum, I saw that the Netgear DM200 has been suggested. I did also see that someone said Netgear and BT do have Issues. Will the Netgear be suitable fit are their any other options recommenadble.

Thanks

Re: NETGEAR DM200 or other modem

The DM200 will be entirely suitable, the Netgear issues are around IPv6 which won't be of concern if you use the DM200 in bridge mode.

The other alternatives are a secondhand Openreach Huawei HG612 from ebay or a Draytek Vigor130

Re: NETGEAR DM200 or other modem

I use a Draytek 130 with my Synology 2600 and it works very well indeed.

Thanks guys. Went for the Netgear although the Draytek was tempting.

Re: NETGEAR DM200 or other modem

As long as you're happy with the purchase and it does what you want then those are the important bits.

Enjoy the connection!
