Need help wiring

Go to solution

I have a an extension box from my master socket used for an ADSL cable however the the wiring was removed. I was hoping someone could take a look at these pictures and give me some guidance on how to rewire it.

last image is of the extention socket which needs wiring. Hopefully the first two images of the master socket can help to give some insight.

The green and red cables need to go into terminals 4 and 5.

You'll need to crimp some 0.5 gauge copper onto the ends before you krone it in though as it won't hold with that type of cable. Just like someone's done at the SSFP end.

Also that wiring should never have been used, was it done by Openreach or one of their Contractors? If so its a right Bodge Job as they ahould've at least used Cat5 grade cable.

cheers for the reply mate. Yeah openreach did both the master and the extention socket at one point. We didnt touch the master socket at all but during renovation we removed the extention socket. Ill get cracking and see if it works.

Unfortunately the extension still doesn't work. I used 0.5 copper and intertwined it with red and green respectively. Kroned green into 4, red into 5, waited about 10 mins for the router to go blue. Tried rearranging the green and red just to see if it would work but nothing still. I'm so confused as to why it won't work. I had guessed that the red and green cables would need to go into 4,5 but even with your confirmation i don't understand why it doesn't work.

okay ive found a solution. I took the wires out of 5 and 2 from the master socket, plugged red into A and green into B, then i followed the instruction of putting green and red into 4 and 5. works just fine now.
