Netgear Nighthawk X8 AC5300

Hello!

I have just received a Bit Hub 2 (BT Fibre 2) and the WiFi at the back of the house is pretty bad where I use the iPad for an indoor bike trainer.

I have a Netgear Nighthawk X8 AC5300 WiFi Modem Router and I was wondering:

1) Can I use this instead of the BT Hub 2? If so is it just plug and play?

2) Will it be better?

Thanks!

If it is definitely a VDSL modem/ router and not just a router, then yes, you can use it as a direct replacement. You will need to enter the generic PPPoE username of bthomehub@btbroadband.com and password BT. It will probably be better than the hub, you won't know until you try

As I suspected, that device isn't a modem/router, it is just a router and can't be used as a direct replacement for a home hub. You either need to buy a separate modem or use it as an expensive WAP in conjunction with the Hub.

I think it is a modem router. Here is a photo https://photos.app.goo.gl/49d23FH73ejTiPJKA

Yep, certainly is. Google let me down. 😀

You're good to go.

Hello! I tried to set this up but I don't have any internet connection. I tried the password both as BT and blank but no go! Any tips?

@atticus88d

Are you getting a connection but no access to the internet?

The image maybe cut off on the right hand side but it looks like you've got ".con" instead of ".com" for the username.
