Yes, I checked and it's described on the device as a modem router in one.

I can't seem to do even that. When trying to access any sign in page, as my laptop's troubleshooting recommends, I'm again directed to the Service Information page. Trying to open the Network Login Page via browser does the same. I seem to be completely locked out

reset netgear and start again

I would also initially use an ethernet cable from laptop to router until set up

I'll give an ethernet cable a try and see if that helps then. Thanks. I'll say if there's still a problem

Re: Netgear router/modem won't connect to BT openreach.

Try setting it up before you connect to the telephone socket.  Just connect the Ethernet cable to the router and your laptop and enter the routers set up pages and enter the BT log on details. Once you have entered and saved the details then plug it into the phone socket.

Re: Netgear router/modem won't connect to BT openreach.

Are you on ADSL or Fibre broadband?

The only reference I can find for a N300 modem router is the DGN2200 which is ADSL only.
