gg's right. Any wireless-enabled device will detect any wifi signal in range; how would you expect it to select only yours? For what it's worth, I can see at least 9 others in my semi-rural, residential street.
By the same token, anyone else's device will pick up yours. That's why wifi hotspots should always be protected with a password to prevent unwelcome use by others.
