Network crashing under stress from downloads.

Go to solution

Our internet keeps crashing during downloads whether it be from Steam/Battlenet or other large file sizes. If the download speed is limited below 1.5mb the crashes are stopped for the most part.

Thanks.

Welcome to this user forum. @TTarpsMail

Please can you confirm which BT Home hub you are using, and whether you have a FTTC connection, or a direct fibre into the house ie FTTP?

Do the lights on the home hub change colour when the network crashes?

3.0 and FTTC, the broadband symbol turns red.

So you also have a white Openreach modem as well, does that show a loss of DSL?

The HH3 is quite old now so it may be worth considering upgrading to a newer home hub, and you would also not need the Openreach modem.

The Openreach modem does not show a loss of DSL.

Then it just looks like the HH3 is having issues with the throughput.

If this has only recently started, then try a factory reset of the HH3.
