New CAT6 system - don't know how to connect!

We have CAT6 throughout a house we have refurbished.  All the wires go to a service room but there is no master connection point (yet!).

Open Reach is coming this week to connect the whole thing up.  I'm keen to know what hardware I need before they come.  For example:

Can they use the BT Home Hub I have been sent?

Does the internet need to come into the service room (or can it come into any room?)

Do I need to buy a 'master socket' for them to hook up to?

Thank you all

Emily

Re: New CAT6 system - don't know how to connect!

Where to start.

Presumably your cat6 cables terminate on a series of RJ45 sockets in the service room. You will need to site the hub in the same room and connect the individual LAN ports to the required RJ 45 socket with Ethernet patch cords. If you require more locations than ports on the hub, you will need to use an Ethernet switch. If you are getting FTTP, Openreach will supply an ONT (optical modem) which connects to your hub WAN port. If you are getting FTTC, Openreach will divide master socket which connects to the DSL port on the hub.

Thank you for taking time to reply.  It helped me work out what I need...which is a specialist to come and help!  I now have someone who is going to support us.
