Re: Unable to connect to VPN

I'm having exactly the same issues as described on this thread.

  • Telephone number broadband is on: I can send directly when I have contact details.
  • Serial number of your hub: I can send directly when I have contact details, new firmware is Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.37 (Type A)
  • A full description of the issue – what happened previously, what happens now - has worked since the line was installed last may, now connects for just under 20 seconds and drops the connection. I first noticed the problem Friday 14th of March.
  • What VPN client: Windows 8 native vpn client, macosx native vpn client
  • What the server is: Windows 2008 r2 routing and remote access
  • What version of operating system and Service pack: Windows 8 latest patches, and Mac OS x Mavericks latest updates
  • Wired or wireless: tried wired and wireless
  • Has he tried another machine connecting to the same VPN? - two different machines which can both connect fine to the vpn from any other network connection, just not on bt infinity. There's plenty of other people connecting fine to the same vpn server from around the world.

Re: Unable to connect to VPN

It's a home hub 3, and I went through a lot of grief on the telephone support line including suggesting that I would have to pay for the tech experts line, until they admitted they knew about the problem but couldn't give me any details as to when it would be looked at.

I'm using BT infinity VSDL2, so I tried connecting a different router (airport extreme) to it however it didn't work. Are there any replacement routers that work on the infinity vsd2l connection?

Just disconnected HH3 and have installed HH5 - VPN now working perfectly!  Says it all really...

Re: New firmware kills VPN

Ditto what hdobbie said - we urgently need an update please!

Rob - I tried changing the DHCP and IP address ranges on my HH3 last week and it made no difference, so I wouldn't bother wasting any more time on it until we hear back from the mods.  It sounds to me like it worked briefly for Bubba but then stopped working after that - which is basically what happens to me every time I try a VPN, as it will always connect for about 20 seconds and then drop out.

Re: New firmware kills VPN

Spoke to BT again today (6th time) and they are sending me another HH3, I told them that this wouldn't fix the problem if it had the same firmware or if it updates but she said it was all she could do. They are calling me back next week, and if the problem isn't resolved, I'm going to cancel my service.

I've also directed them to look at this page as they still seem to be in denial that its the home hub causing the problem!

I'll say it again: The support from BT on this is terrible!

Re: New firmware kills VPN

FAO Mods/BT generally - if we don't have an update by tomorrow morning then I've got no choice but to email the CEO of BT direct to get this escalated.  It's shocking how this is just being left to drag on with no updates at all and I am seriously considering changing ISP now as I can't just sit here waiting indefinitely when my VPNs have been knocked out for getting on for 2 weeks.

vpn connection- no longer works

Nearly a week on and still no change - the same with everyone.  VPN connection drops after 20 seconds - apparently I need to contact the "specialists" to help resolve the problem but this is not a free service!!
