Nintendo switch keeps disconnecting every hour

Hey there,

Made an account to ask and not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but since November my switch keeps getting disconnected consistently every hour. I've tried many possible fixes I've found online since then (Static IP, multiple factory resets, different dns servers e.c.t.) and still the same issue is reoccurring and driving me mad.

Since setting a static IP it no longer shows the disconnects in the technical log but they still happen on the switch. I've tried two switches so I know it is not the console itself.
It does not happen when the ethernet cable is connected but on wifi specifically and the times it happens are inconsistent e.g. one day it'll happen each our at 40mins to and then the next day 10mins past.

Not sure what information I need to supply but its a BT hub 6A. If anyone has any ideas that could help that would be great.
Thanks for reading

Re: Nintendo switch keeps disconnecting every hour

You've already proved it's a WiFi issue so if you haven't already, I'd start by separating the 2.4 & 5GHz WiFi bands on the router & see if connecting to one or the other solves it.

Separate Wifi Bands

Re: Nintendo switch keeps disconnecting every hour

Is it just the Nintendo or does it happen with all devices?

Re: Nintendo switch keeps disconnecting every hour

I checked earlier today and the wifi bands were already separate. You reply gave me an idea, as the switch was auto connecting to the 5GHz band I turned it off as a whole and sure enough after a few hours testing it fixed my entire problem.

I checked the logs to see what had changed between changing the setting and a msg that the BThub had been spamming each hour when the switch was connected to it had stopped being spammed.

This msg always showed up when the Nintendo switch DC'd and I had assumed that msg had been something relating to the IP of the switch originally which is why I set it to static IP but turning off the 5GHz is where it stopped doing it all together.

@licquoriceThe nintendo switches are the only ones that I've noticed the wifi drop off on consistently. They are also the closest device to the Hub. I only have maybe 3 devices max connected to it at once.
